FORESTS OF THE FOREST DISTRICT

The forests in this District are not very much scattered and consists of two big complexes divided by the Bober river. The land form is usually plain , with some rolling and hilly parts. There are some hills with the highest elevation of 165 m ASL.

The forest areas have very few water reservoirs, swamps are rather scarce, the same as places with open water table.

The basic soil types include  rusty, podstolic soils and podsols  which form poor coniferous forest habitats, clay-podsolic soils with mixed forests. Brown soils are rather rare  (mainly acid) forming forest habitats, bog and post-bog soils.

The wild pie prevails in this territory and its share amounts to 93%, thus coniferous forest habitats are dominant ( 84% of the total forest area), the average forest stand age is 54 years.
